Cleaning and Oiling Your Sewing Machine

This information is being updated. Currently there is not much here.

Supplies:

 
  • Soft Cleaning Cloths.
  • Warm Soapy Water ( mild soap ).
  • Soft Paper Towels.
  • Sewing Machine Oil.
  • Wire Brush ( Brass ).
  • Toothbrush or nylon brush.
  • Cleaning Solution ( Fantastic or similar ).
    *NOTE* Do not use cleaning solutions on the decals or the head. The cleaning solution is for use on the chrome parts and screws that are removed from the machine for cleaning. The cleaning solution can damage decals and discolor the finish and paint on the head.
  • Bright overhead light.
  • Toothpicks.
  • Thin piece of plastic ( from side of bubble packs, or Singer needle packs ).
  • Long and Short Handled screwdrivers of various sizes.
  • Plastic tub or dish for parts.
  • Lint brush for small paint brush.
  • Old News paper.

Basic Tools and Supplies. Not all items listed above are shown.
Includes ( from left to right ): Three bottles of sewing machine oil ( Buy good quality oil ), Singer lubricant for gears and slides, paint brush for dusting and cleaning out lint, various size screwdrivers.

Please Note * - Sewing Machines should be serviced at least once a year by a qualified service center. Failure to do so can lead to untimely breakdown or poor performance. The basic service information here is provided for the time between regular servicing.
